Now you can specify a text string to replace through out your database.  The quickest way to go through all the content on your site and replace text.

This tool is so powerful that it could damage your site if you aren't careful.  It can perform a replace on every occurrence of a string in tables that are necessary for Joomla to run properly.  To help with this, we have provided you with a means of narrowing your search to only tables that fit a certain prefix criteria.

We have customers using this in multiple environments.  If you use Virtuemart, then you can use the virtuemart prefix (usually jos_vm) to limit your search to just the virtuemart tables.  You could even limit it to "ps_product" so that the search and replace is only on your products.  And now with our new preview feature you can make sure you know the table and field names that your addon uses.

Extension Installation:

Simply install dbSearch as you would any other Joomla component. 

Login to the backend of Joomla. Select Installers->Components
3.  Browse to the location of com_debug.zip and select "upload file & install"
4.  You should get a message that everything installed correctly.

Usage:

This componenet is strictly for use in the backend.

1.  Seelect Components->dbSearch & Replace
2.  You will see the main screen.          a. Type a search phrase in the "search text" box , then select Search              if you only want to find out how many times this phrase occurs.          b. Type a replace phrase in the "replace with text" box and then select replace               if you would like to perform a Find & Replace.          c. Type a prefix if you would like to limit the search to only a few tables.                  - Example: For Virtuemart you might use "jos_vm" or "ps_product"                  - Example: For Docman you might use "_docman"           d. Type a prefix if you would like to limit the search to only a few fields.
3.  You will now need to select either "Search" or "Replace" from the upper right-hand toolbar.
